The Hoof Beat May 2003

Saga of Wheatland Development

Shadow Hills--In March, William McChesney, Michael Graf, Tessie Graf, Rudy Madrid, Kurtis King, and Maria Mejia filed two lawsuits against the City of Los Angeles and California Home Development LLC ("CHD"), and Dan Lahave. Maria's lawsuit also named Izek Shlomof, Aline Shlomof, and Patrick Wizmann, interest holders in CHD.

On Monday, April 14, 2003, neighbors adjoining the Wheatland property filed for a temporary restraining order to prevent CHD from removing over 290 trees on the project site while the lawsuits are pending. The Court granted the temporary restraining order. The issues regarding the trees and grading are critical to plaintiff's claims regarding the California Environmental Quality Act.
