Canyon Hills Decided at PLUM

The PLUM Committee of the City of Los Angeles considered the Whitebird Canyon Hills proposal on Monday and made a decision. In a nutshell, PLUM (City Councilmembers Ed Reyes, Tony Cardenas, and Jack Weiss) listened to all the evidence from our side, an impassioned presentation from Wendy Greuel, Whitebird and their supporters, and the various City departments.

PLUM approved 221 homes on the north side of the 210 Freeway, and accepted Whitebird’s offer to dedicate all the acreage on the south side of the 210 as Open Space, as well as additional acreage to the west of the building area on the north side of the 210 Freeway.

Many organizations and people that are against the project have worked hard for nearly 5 years on this. Thank you everyone for your support and tireless efforts. You were heard, if not exactly listened to.

Before I go into details and offer a context for this decision, I would like to hear from the 200 people who showed up at City Hall to attend the hearing. What do you think happened? How do you think it went? What is your understanding of what went on? How well do you think your voice was heard? What do you think the consequences of this decision will be?

Your comments and feedback will help us determine what the next steps will be. I don’t want to sway your opinion with my particular take on things. I want to hear from YOU! I would also like to compile your comments into a message to Wendy, so please understand that I will be forwarding your comments on, unadulterated.
